THE GIRL CHILD

THE girl child

A father’s pride

He is her guide

Until she becomes a bride

Our teenage girls

With delicate cells

She should be blessed

And not forced to bed

She is important and innocent

With lovely smiles that can’t hide

She needs a life not lies

She should be loved and not lust after

O Nigeria, giant of Africa

Help the girl child to be brighter and better

With water, shelter, education and energy

Employment, good health and security

She craves for equality

As you all are a product of her fertility

She deserves your loyalty, because she raised you to royalty

She desires to protect her right

O Nigeria, the girl child weeps

With endless nights of sleep

Only a stationary pain resides in her heart

Like a tainted lake, it never flows

Her all was torn apart

Without an alert she was given out

She wept under the bosom of darkness

She built strong fences around her fears

Her youth fled that day

At night he pulled down her pants & wandered

She begged the breeze to hear her plea,

But he raped her

She was thirteen and had a wedding ring,

Locked and frozen without mirth:

An infinity symbol of child trafficking
A hell on earth
